When the Clean Air Act was passed, Section 608 required anyone purchasing or handling refrigerants to be certified. 

Note this is a Federal Certification for the whole USA, not any state certification nor licensing.  You need a Georgia Conditioned Air Contractors License to install, service, or repair any HVAC unit.  This EPA-608 Certification is a requirement for your application for the license in Georgia.

The EPA has listed the HVACR Institute at Ferris State University to serve as an authorized Technician Certification Program according to the Clean Air Act Section 608.

Our Instructor; Garrison Michael, is a registered Proctor for Ferris State University to administer this EPA test.

There are no longer any Classes given for the EPA-608 Certification.  You have the option of the following two items:

1. EPA Section 608 Refrigerant Tech. Certification – Home Study Kit & Test
2. EPA Section 608 Refrigerant Technician Certification – Re-Test only

You should consider paying at least 2 weeks before the Test Date, so I can order the Test and so that you can receive the Home Study Kit and start studying. 

SECTION 608 HOME STUDY COURSE:

Home Study Course Procedure:

• Register and pay for Home Study Kit Course with Test
• You will be receive the Home Study Kit for EPA Section 608 Refrigerant
• Certification.  It includes a 160 page Study Manual that is already underlined on the ‘key’ areas for you to study.  Pay close attention to the lines that have a big asterisk (*) symbol by them.
• Also included will be about four (4) Sample Tests
• When you complete the tests, mail or send to my email below
• I will then email the answers to you, along with some study notes
• Then prepare to take the test

Test Requirements: Photo I.D.
Bring a Photo I.D. (Ga. Drivers License) with you to the TEST.

Section 608 Technician Certification Test:
The test has 100 questions, all multiple choice.
25 questions for the Core chapters.
25 questions for Type 1 Certification.
25 questions for Type 2 Certification.
25 questions for Type 3 Certification.

You must score a 70% or better in the Core section, and one or more of the three Types. If successful in all three Types, you will have a Universal Certification.  You can re-test in any or all of the three Types, without re-taking previously certified sections, as long as you have already passed the Core section.
